What does my session fee cover?
The session fee pays for the photographer's time and talent. This includes post session editing. The session fee also includes a free, online gallery for 6 months. You will have access and rights to ALL of your photos. That's right! You don't have to choose your favorites as you do with some photographers. If I take 100 photos, you get 100 photos :)
What does 'editing' include?
All final images are edited using photo editing software. These edits include culling, cropping, brightening, color correction and b&w options per the photographer's discretion. Additional retouching which includes the removal of minor blemishes, small spots or scratches, small bruises or single stray hairs, or anything else which takes a considerable amount of time is available for an added cost. Please inquire about these services.
Do you offer on location sessions?
Yes! I will travel within 25 miles of 07936. Locations over 25 miles will incur a travel fee. Please be aware that outdoor sessions may need to be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. If a permit is required to conduct a session in a client's desired location, the client will be responsible for obtaining the permit and any costs involved. Multiple locations will incur a fee of $50 per additional location.
What if my child or family member is under the weather?
If anyone is sick, please reschedule! Sick children do not like to be photographed and we know that you will not love your photos nearly as much as if they were in good health. If you must cancel, please do so as soon as possible. Your deposit will roll over to your new date.
What happens if I don't show up to a session?
You will forfeit your $150 deposit. If you choose to re-book, an additional $150 deposit will be charged.
When should I arrive for my session?
Please be on time! I respect your time, please respect mine :) It is to your advantage to be on time and ready to start shooting. Starting late means you will have fewer images. Clients arriving more than 20 minutes late will be asked to reschedule and $50 will be deducted from your deposit. If you are running late, please be courteous and call me. Based on availability, we may not need to reschedule.
Can I bring additional people to the session?
We request that only the people being photographed are present. Of course, for children sessions, parents are allowed. However, additional family members or friends are highly distracting to those being photographed and, therefore, are not allowed. If you will be bringing the family dog, it is highly recommended that you bring a dog handler to assist you.
When will we get our images?
Please be patient! I want to ensure your photos are perfect and I'm sure you do as well. It will typically take about 2 weeks to receive them during the slow season. During peak season (Spring to Christmas) photos can take 3-4 weeks.
Can I post to social media?
Yes! In fact, I encourage it. I am thrilled you love your photos and would love for your friends and family to see them!
However, images made by a photographer are the intellectual property of the photographer and the photographer owns the copyright to the images unless otherwise stated in your contract.
I ask that you respect me as an artist and give credit to @amymcpeekphotography on Instagram and Amy McPeek Photography on Facebook when posting or sharing.
What should we bring to our session?
A positive attitude is all you need to bring :) For newborn sessions, I can work with any blankets, outfits, bows, etc. you have. However, I do not bring anything to the sessions except my camera.
What should I know about newborn sessions?
I am a lifestyle photographer and use a fly-on-the-wall approach to newborn photography. Some photographers use studio lighting and props in their photos. My style is a little different. I use the natural lighting in your home and capture the moments as they actually happened. There is minimal posing in these sessions. For example, I love to capture you feeding the baby, changing the baby, rocking, etc. Please ensure your home is tidy and pathways to your windows are clear. We will capture baby in the nursery, on your bed, etc.
When is the best time to do a newborn shoot?
Contrary to popular belief, newborn photos come out best when baby is anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks old, NOT when baby is a few days old. (The exception to this is childbirth/newborn hospital shoots). This gives mom time to recover from childbirth and for mom and baby to get into somewhat of a routine. And guess what? Baby is still super sleepy and the images come out great :)
