about me
Hi! I'm Amy... mother of 3 boys and lover of all things family and tradition.
My love of photography started back in 2004 when I first picked up my mother's vintage Pentax film camera and started shooting. There was something magical about developing my negatives in my high school photography class dark room and waiting on the edge of my seat for the images I captured to come to life.
After high school, most of my college coursework was made up of Marketing and Communication classes, but I always made sure a photography class was part of my curriculum each semester.
After spending over 12 years sitting behind a computer after graduation, I always felt like something was missing in my professional life. Watching my 3 sons grow before my eyes and witnessing the passing of my mother at a young age encouraged me to relish in the fact that life is short and special moments with your loved ones are fleeting.
I find so much joy in capturing these special moments for my family and hope you will trust me to do the same for yours.
Most photographers are self taught, but you can relax knowing I'm always interested in the next best way to grow my photography skills and technique. I have been studying photography extensively for 18 years and it is truly my passion. I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography (Graduate Certificate in Professional Photography) and I'm also a member of PPA (Professional Photographers of America.)
my shooting style
I sincerely love the art of photography and take every measure necessary to ensure that each special moment is captured in a natural, unforced way. Sure, from time to time, I shoot the obligatory "smile at the camera" photos with Grandma if that's what you're looking for. But, for the most part, I'm a lifestyle photographer which means that my main goal is to capture moments in an artistic manner and to find the special moments in the everyday without stiff poses, backdrops or fake lighting. In other words, I deliver candid shots of real-life moments.
I use sunlight as my only lighting source, utilizing the beauty of natural shadows and highlights as they occur in real life. I enjoy these photos much more than the posed "SAY CHEESE!" shots with bright, unnatural studio lighting and I'm hoping you agree. If you are looking for overly photoshopped images, unfortunately I am not the photographer for you. I want to feel something when I look at your photos and I want you to as well. So we keep it as natural as possible.
We get together with family and friends to experience life's most special milestones with the people we love. I am thrilled to be there for you to capture these moments with beautiful images you can cherish forever.
I can't wait to meet you!
